OUR PANELISTS
Eric Liu, MD, FACS
Dr. Eric Liu is a renowned surgeon specializing in neuroendocrine disease and the co-founder of the Healing NET Foundation. He established the first U.S. clinical trial for the Gallium 68 PET scan to diagnose neuroendocrine tumors and trained at the world-leading Neuroendocrine Center of Excellence in Sweden. Dr. Liu lectures nationwide and specializes in treating neuroendocrine cancers and performing advanced abdominal surgeries at the Intermountain Health Cancer Center – Saint Joseph. A Harvard and Columbia alumnus, he has earned numerous accolades, including the National Cancer Institute’s Paul Calabresi Award for Clinical Oncology.
Jaydira Del Rivero, MD
Dr. Del Rivero is a Physician Scientist in the Developmental Therapeutics Branch. She is the Principal Investigator of the Natural History Study for Neuroendocrine Neoplasm and Adrenocortical Cancer to provide the basis of further development of therapeutic interventions, prevention/screening guidelines, endpoints for future clinical trials, and patient reported outcome measures. Dr. Del Rivero’s current efforts is the development of novel treatment approaches and targeted therapies for endocrine malignancies such as advanced gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, adrenocortical cancer and pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma.
Minal S. Jain, PT, DSc, FAPTA
Dr. Jain is Acting Chief and Research Coordinator of the Physical Therapy Section in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at the NIH Clinical Center. She serves as an associate investigator and lead physical therapist on a number of clinical research protocols involving neuromuscular and rare genetic disorders. Her research focuses on measuring changes in motor function and physical performance through standardized clinical assessments and innovative technologies, including body-worn inertial sensors. She has expertise in selecting and developing functional outcome measures, standardizing assessment protocols, and collecting, analyzing, and interpreting clinical research data. Her past work includes providing exercise and activity guidance for people with RYR1-related diseases, congenital muscular dystrophy, juvenile dermatomyositis, and pediatric cancers. Dr. Jain has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented her research at local, national, and international conferences.
Staci Martin, PhD
Dr. Staci Martin is a clinical psychologist with specialized expertise in health psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. For over 30 years, Dr. Martin has worked with medical populations including cancer, sickle cell disease, and various genetic syndromes. At the National Cancer Institute (NCI), she is the Clinical Director of the Health Psychology and Neurobehavioral Research Program. Her research focuses on ACT interventions for children through adults with health conditions and their family members. Dr. Martin has received NCI Special Act Awards for her expertise and leadership in the field of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the Outstanding Mentor Award. Dr. Martin has authored over 85 publications in peer-reviewed journals, several of which have been selected as Editor’s Choice or Feature articles. She is President Emeritus of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of ACBS, a past ACBS board member-at-large for basic science, and past board member of the Pain special interest group of the Society for Pediatric Psychology. In addition, she has been an invited speaker throughout the U.S. and internationally and has been interviewed on several health-focused podcasts about her work.
