ABOUT THE PANELISTS

Eric Liu, MD, FACS

Dr. Eric Liu is a renowned surgeon specializing in neuroendocrine disease and the co-founder of the Healing NET Foundation. He established the first U.S. clinical trial for the Gallium 68 PET scan to diagnose neuroendocrine tumors and trained at the world-leading Neuroendocrine Center of Excellence in Sweden. Dr. Liu lectures nationwide and co-founded The Neuroendocrine Institute at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Denver. A Harvard and Columbia alumnus, he has earned numerous accolades, including the National Cancer Institute’s Paul Calabresi Award for Clinical Oncology.

 

Tara Snow, MD

Dr. Snow received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado – Denver. Throughout her entire career, she has combined her internal medicine practice with palliative medicine and hospice. She has worked as a hospitalist and palliative care provider at both academic and community hospitals. In addition, she has worked in hospice settings. She currently works as the palliative medicine physician at HCA Health One Presbyterian St. Luke’s, in Denver. Her current medical practice focuses on improving patient’s lives by maximizing symptom management and helping those with serious illness navigate the complexity of the health care system.

LaWanda Cox

LaWanda Cox is a Baltimore native, a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner, and a Radiology Representative at Kaiser Permanente. She is also the President of the Team Healed Khloe Foundation, a nonprofit inspired by her daughter’s cancer journey. LaWanda is passionate about using healing and advocacy to support families and uplift her community. She lives in Baltimore with her husband, Lloyd, and their three children: A’nya, Lloyd, and Khloe.

Lindsey Demuth, PMHNP-BC

Lindsey Demuth is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. She provides compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care to both adolescents and adults, with expertise in treating a wide range of mental health conditions. She is further trained in advanced treatment modalities such as Ketamine infusions and Sparvato for post-traumatic stress disorder and treatment resistant depression. 

In addition to her psychiatric practice, Lindsey has specialized training in weight management and peptide therapy, including evidence-based use of medications, nutrition planning, and weight training for both men and women of all ages. She is also skilled in hormone replacement therapy for men and women.  Expanding her knowledge and background has allowed for her to continue supporting patients in achieving optimal health and well-being throughout the lifespan. 

Lindsey has over 15 years of experience as a registered nurse, with a strong clinical background in emergency and trauma services at Kaiser Permanente. 

Her combined expertise in psychiatry, integrative wellness, and advanced therapies allows her to deliver comprehensive, individualized care that empowers patients to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Chaplain Gene Lovelace

Chaplain Gene Lovelace is the Palliative Care Chaplain at Monogram Health, one of the fastest growing new healthcare providers in the nation, and a caregiver to his spouse who was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in 2011. Chaplain Lovelace was called out of retirement to bring chaplaincy and spiritual care to Monogram Health, a leading multi specific provider of in-home evidence-based care and benefit management service to patients with chronic, complex conditions especially kidney disease and end stage renal disease. Lovelace previously served as Sr. Chaplain at Alive hospice in Nashville, Tennessee for over two decades and lives near Old Hickory Lake where he and his wife are avid sailors.

Denise Pearce, LPN

Denise Pearce has been a practicing Licensed Practical Nurse since 1993, with varied nursing experience, including hospitals, home health, hospice and more. Her current role is that of phone triage LPN and Volunteer Coordinator with Berkley hospice. 

Denise was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and after 50 years of living through many hurricanes, including Katrina, Denise and her husband Don along with their youngest daughter Shannon moved to Denver in 2013. Their oldest daughter Danielle lives and works in Geneva Switzerland and Turin Italy. 

Not long after their arrival in Denver, Denise decided to return to school and pursued a BS degree at MSU Denver in Integrative Healthcare with a minor in Lifestyle Medicine. At the age of 56, Denise graduated Cum Laude during the covid pandemic of 2020. Shortly after graduation she completed the stringent requirements of the NBC-HWC, National Board for Certification of Health and Wellness Coaches, becoming a certified Health and Wellness Coach and has been practicing part time ever since.

As a colon cancer survivor since age 42, Denise has always pursued ways to help other cancer patients as well as their families because she has literally walked the walk. In 2022 her husband needed major surgery and extensive recovery. This time truly hit home and now is her additional passion, she seeks to assist not only the patient but also the caregivers during this stressful time. 

In her free time Denise practices her own self care with meditation, mindfulness and outdoor hobbies of walking and gardening. She always enjoys time with friends and family, but Denise’s biggest and most important role is that of “Maw Maw” to her granddaughter Parker who arrived in November of 2023.
